Lost to the World (Warner Classics, 6 March 2026) is Daniel Lozakovich’s most personal recording to date: a programme shaped by early memories, poetry, and a decade-long musical partnership with pianist Hélène Mercier. Cornerstones of the Romantic repertoire, among them Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise, Fauré’s Après un rêve and Debussy’s La Fille aux cheveux de lin, sit alongside rarer excursions into chanson, from Autumn Leaves to Youkali. Reflecting on silence as something music teaches us to hear, the album moves toward its closing piece, Mahler’s Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen, set to the Rückert poem that gives the record its title. A meditation on the redemptive power of music, in a world that has grown increasingly noisy.

Before becoming a composer, Jean Sibelius dreamed of being a violinist. That intimacy with the instrument runs through his only concerto for a solo instrument, a virtuosic and introspective work.
Dark, as Daniel Lozakovich himself describes it, Sibelius’s Violin Concerto is performed this week by the 2026 Season Artist in Residence, conducted by Xian Zhang. The programme also features Reena Esmail’s “RE|Member” and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5.
